NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang: Next-generation AI infrastructure will require massive optical connections; copper wires can no longer meet the demand.

Golden Finance reports that on May 8th, Wednesday, Eastern Time, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang highly praised their new partnership project with Corning during an interview, calling it an important opportunity for the United States to rebuild its technology supply chain. Huang said that the next generation of artificial intelligence infrastructure will require a large amount of optical connections because computing demands are rapidly increasing, to the point where copper wires can no longer meet the needs. “We will scale up the application of optical technology on an unprecedented level; frankly, no optical company has ever achieved such scale,” Huang stated. Huang also mentioned that the benefits brought by this wave of AI investment go far beyond just benefiting tech companies. He pointed out that the demand for electricians, construction workers, chip manufacturing employees, and data center infrastructure experts is continuously rising, which is strong evidence that this construction process has already extended into the entire economy.
