AUTOMATED BTC TRANSACTIONS INTRODUCED WITH NO FEES 🤯💰📲
Square (Block, Inc.) has begun rolling out automatically enabled Bitcoin payments to eligible U.S. sellers starting March 30, 2026. The feature uses the Lightning Network for near-instant settlement and requires no additional setup or need to hold Bitcoin, with payments converting to cash at checkout.
It offers 0% processing fees through 2026 for these transactions. The rollout shifts from an opt-in model to default activation for qualifying merchants in good standing, excluding New York. Eligibility depends on account standing, location (U.S. excluding NY), and regulatory approvals—it's not universal for every Square seller.
"Automatic BTC transactions" and "no need to hold Bitcoin" are well-described: the system handles Lightning settlement and fiat conversion seamlessly for merchants who prefer USD.
Fees are promotional zero percent for Bitcoin payments specifically; other Square fees may still apply in mixed transactions.
Bitcoin volatility risk remains for any portion merchants choose to hold (though default conversion mitigates this).
