2026.5.7 U.S. Stock Market Brief
The prospects of U.S.-Iran negotiations once again cast a fog, with U.S. stocks surging higher then closing lower across the board, and crude oil prices fluctuating sharply during the session.
1. VIXY fell 0.89%, closing at 26.85.
2. The three major U.S. stock indices closed lower. The S&P 500 index dropped 28.01 points, a 0.38% decline, to 7,337.11 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 313.62 points, a 0.63% decrease, to 49,596.97 points. The Nasdaq declined 32.747 points, a 0.13% drop, to 25,806.196 points.
3. Tesla rose 3.28%, Nvidia increased 1.76%, Microsoft gained 1.68%, Meta rose 0.64%, Google A fell 0.01%, Apple declined 0.03%, Amazon dropped 1.39%.
4. The Nasdaq Golden Dragon China Index fell 1.40%, closing at 7,027.77 points. Among popular Chinese concept stocks, Xiaopeng Motors dropped 6.1%, Xiaopeng declined 2.1%, Pinduoduo fell 0.8%, BYD (ADR) rose 1.9%.
5. Bitcoin continued to decline, once falling below $80,000, down over 2%. Ethereum also dropped below $2,300.
