OpenAI launches new model for cybersecurity teams to use
Mars Finance News, May 8 — OpenAI announced on Thursday that its latest AI model variant, GPT-5.5-Cyber, is being released in limited preview to vetted cybersecurity teams. A month earlier, its competitor Anthropic attracted the attention of investors and government officials with the Claude Mythos preview version. OpenAI pointed out that the preview of GPT-5.5-Cyber is not intended to significantly enhance cybersecurity capabilities, but rather trained to be more flexible when handling security-related tasks. The company stated that with this version specifically designed for the cybersecurity field, vetted teams will find it easier to leverage OpenAI’s latest models for workflows such as vulnerability identification and classification, patch verification, and malware analysis.
