I noticed that Elon Musk is not just an ordinary businessman, but truly a unique kind of role model. The man was able to build an empire of innovative institutions that radically changed the course of several industries.
Let me share with you a look at the institutions that were created under his leadership, and how each one impacted the world around us.
Tesla, which launched in 2003, was not just a normal car company. Musk turned his vision into tangible reality—high-performance electric vehicles such as Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y. But more importantly, it developed battery technology in a remarkable way, and it even entered the solar energy field through SolarCity. Tesla became an undisputed market leader.
After one year, he founded SpaceX in 2002 with a very bold dream—making space exploration cheaper and more sustainable. And now we see Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy rockets achieving what once seemed impossible. Sending astronauts to the International Space Station, and developing Starship for missions to Mars—this is another level of ambition.
The Boring Company, which he launched in 2016, focuses on a real problem—traffic congestion. The company digs underground tunnels to move passengers quickly. The Vegas Loop project under Las Vegas gives you an idea of the scale of the vision.
In the same year, Neuralink came—and this is perhaps the most daring of all. Interfaces that connect the human brain to computers directly. The goal is to treat neurological diseases and restore motor functions. Implantable devices that change the way we think about interacting with technology.
In 2022, Musk acquired Twitter in a massive deal of about $44 billion, and then renamed it X in 2023. The platform saw radical transformations in its advertising model and verification system. The ambition now is to turn it into an all-in-one platform offering multiple services.
Musk also helped found OpenAI, a research organization specialized in safe and responsible artificial intelligence. Although he later left the company, OpenAI has become a giant in the field with systems such as GPT.
When you bring all these institutions together, you realize you’re looking at one extraordinary person who managed to turn his visions into tangible reality across diverse fields—from clean energy to space to artificial intelligence. This level of ambition and execution is very rare in the business world.
