Guys, I just noticed that over the past few years, so many movies about cryptocurrency have been released that you could organize an entire film festival. Starting from the moment when some programmer with the nickname Satoshi Nakamoto released the white paper about Bitcoin about 15 years ago, the history of cryptocurrency has become as exciting as a Hollywood blockbuster. And that's no exaggeration.
If you're tired of watching charts and candlesticks, there are cool options. Documentaries about cryptocurrency like Banking on Bitcoin and The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin do a good job explaining where all this came from. They include interviews with enthusiasts and experts, providing a solid immersion into the history. There's also Trust Machine about blockchain—a broader look at the technology.
And if you want a thriller with intrigue, Silk Road (2021) is just fire— a real story about the dark web, Ross Ulbricht, and all that. Bitconned about the Centra Tech scam is also dark but informative. You can see how people scammed fools in the late 2010s.
There are also entertainment options. Dope (2015) is a comedic drama about guys from Inglewood, where Bitcoin is part of the plot. Or the episode of The Good Wife about Bitcoin, if you prefer series. Crypto (2019) is a crime thriller about money laundering and corruption, with tension between traditional banking and digital assets.
And then there's Bitcoin: End of Money as We Know It (2015), about the end of money as we know it— a pretty philosophical approach. In general, there are movies about cryptocurrency for every taste: from documentaries to action films. Some people like educational ones, others just want to have fun. Something from this list will definitely catch your eye. Which ones have you watched?
