I just read somewhere: What is the oldest country in the world? Crazy how different the answers are, depending on how you count. Iran is supposedly already existing since 3200 BC, followed shortly after by Egypt at 3100 BC. But then it gets interesting – Vietnam at 2879 BC, China only at 2070 BC, even though you wouldn’t expect that.
When you really look at the oldest country in the world, the differences are striking. Armenia at 2492 BC, Israel and Georgia around 1300 BC. North Korea is also listed with 2333 BC, which honestly surprised me. The data is probably based on the earliest known government, not on modern borders.
I find it fascinating how old some of these cultures really are. Defining the oldest country in the world is somehow also a matter of perspective. Who here would have thought that Vietnam is supposed to be older than China? 🤔
