CryptoWorld News reports that the Chief Trade Negotiator of the European Parliament, Bernd Lange, stated that the European Union hopes to advance trade agreement negotiations with the United States this month. Lange said in an interview that progress had been made during negotiations launched on Wednesday evening involving officials from the European Commission, the European Parliament, and EU member states, but parties had not reached a final consensus. He stated, “I guess there will be another meeting, but by then we will have a conclusion.” He also mentioned that negotiations could potentially resume as early as next week. The meeting faces pressure due to U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to raise tariffs on EU-made cars imported to the U.S. from 15% to 25%, accusing the EU of not complying with the trade agreement reached in 2025. U.S. Ambassador to the EU, Andrew Puzder, said in an interview on Wednesday that if negotiators fail to make substantial progress on the agreement, auto tariffs could be increased soon.
