There's a project on GitHub that's been quite popular recently, so I’ll share it here.

DeepSeek-TUI, an AI programming assistant in the terminal, based on DeepSeek-V4. No need to switch windows, directly chat with AI, modify code, run commands, manage Git, and even coordinate sub-agents to work together.
A few practical features:
- Three modes: Plan / Agent / YOLO, whether you want manual approval or full automation
- Real-time display of token consumption and costs, so you know the situation
- Conversations can be saved, so you don’t lose progress even if you close the terminal
- Workspace automatically takes snapshots, one-click rollback, undo mistakes anytime
- Supports Chinese interface, and has a dedicated domestic mirror installation plan
Interestingly, the author is an American developer without a formal CS background, studying music education, currently in law school. The project was released in January, and recently gained popularity after the DeepSeek-V4 upgrade. He also reached out to Chinese developers on X, calling everyone "Whale Brothers," which is quite humorous.
Now it has over 10k stars and keeps growing daily. Some developers have already integrated it into their toolchains, reporting that when used with deepseek-v4-flash, the speed is close to OpenCode.
Of course, some people think stability still needs observation, since open-source projects evolve quickly. But if you want to try terminal AI programming at low cost, this is worth a shot.
