When I first started playing with PFPs, I really thought that changing your avatar meant you’d joined some kind of circle, and that sooner or later it would become “valuable.” Thinking back, that’s pretty naive. My current understanding is that PFPs/memberships are more like a continuous attention contract—whether a brand can keep you around depends on whether there’s real substance behind it. Otherwise, the excitement will die down after a while.

Recently, I’ve been seeing everyone pushing into the testnet again, farming points, and—every day in the group chat—guessing whether the mainnet will issue tokens… I get it, people all want something to look forward to. But to put it plainly, no matter how many points you rack up, it’s still just a ticket; whether you get it or how much you get is completely out of your control.

I still have my old habit: I’m not good at chasing pumps—I actually prefer to slowly pick up a bit of the broader market and core infrastructure when emotions sink to rock bottom. As for PFPs, just treat them as socializing plus personal interests, and don’t set your expectations too high. Your mindset will feel a lot more comfortable.
