Coinbase will launch the perpetual contract KAIO

Coinbase announces it will list the perpetual contract KAIO-PERP on 5/7/2026, if the relevant market meets liquidity requirements and the region permits this type of trading.

The announcement clearly states that the implementation will not happen immediately but depends on two conditions: market liquidity and the legal framework in each region. There are no additional details yet about specific exchanges or broader scope of application.

A perpetual contract is a derivative product that allows trading based on price fluctuations without a fixed expiration date. With this plan, Coinbase is scheduling it quite far in advance, rather than confirming the listing at this moment.

It is not yet clear which asset KAIO is or which market will be applied first if the conditions are met. Coinbase has also not released further information about minimum liquidity volume or regions that will be excluded.
