Five minutes are enough to turn any book into a smart assistant that works for you all day long.

This is not an exaggeration.

Today, Claude supports you with what is called "Skills" —
Custom commands you program once, then invoke in a second.

Any book with an applicable methodology
Can be transformed into a skill that runs automatically inside Claude.

The core idea is simple:
Instead of explaining the book to Claude every time, convert it once into a "Skill,"
And Claude will be able to apply the book's methodology to any new request from you.
--
How to do this in five steps:
First: Choose a book with a clear methodology. Quick test: Can you describe the book's method in numbered steps? If yes, it qualifies. Stories and memoirs are not suitable here.

Second: Extract only five elements from the book — the problem it solves, the steps in order, the recurring rules, common mistakes it warns about, and the questions the author asks the reader.

Third: Open Cowork with Opus, and paste this command:
"Use the skill-creator tool to build a skill from the book [Book Name] by [Author]. This skill should be activated when I ask you [Specific Task]."

Then add the steps, rules, and mistakes you extracted.
And most importantly: clearly specify what should NOT trigger the skill.

Fourth: Test the skill before installing it.
Try five different approaches for the same request — does it work?
Then try three unrelated requests — does it stay silent and remain in place?

Fifth: Install it. Settings, then Capabilities, then Skills.
From now on, just type /command name anywhere, and the skill will activate immediately.

Professional tip for those who want maximum benefit:
For each big book, build two separate skills.
One for diagnosis — asking questions about the book in your current situation.
And another for application — producing outputs in the author's style.

The real value here is deeper than just saving time.
You are not just talking to Claude,
You are teaching it your preferred way of thinking.

And this is the difference between using AI as a search engine and using it as a partner who thinks in your style.

Tools are not built only for those who understand them. They are built for those who know how to shape them into their image...
