I have just learned more about a truly important issue in Web3 — how different blockchains can "talk" to each other. And what is Wormhole? It is one of the most interesting solutions to this problem.
In fact, what is wormhole that everyone is discussing so much? Simply put — it is a cross-chain blockchain protocol that allows the transfer of assets and data between different blockchain ecosystems seamlessly. Instead of relying on centralized exchanges (which carry high risk), you can transfer NFTs, tokens, or data directly across chains.
The operating mechanism is also quite interesting. Wormhole "packages" data into messages from the source blockchain, then forwards them to the destination chain through a system managed by 19 Guardians (validators). The process is quite simple: you send data into a smart contract → data is wrapped → sent to another chain → verified → user retrieves the original data.
The cool part is the security. A message is only considered valid when 13 out of 19 Guardians sign off on it. This mechanism is called Verified Action Approval (VAA), and Relayers cannot modify it during the forwarding process. So technically, it’s quite secure.
Wormhole is not just about transferring tokens — it also supports over 30 blockchains and integrates Zero Knowledge proofs to enhance trustworthiness. Developers can also use Wormhole Queries to efficiently query data on the chain, or use Wormhole Connect to integrate cross-chain features with just 3 lines of code.
Regarding the $W token, the development team recently announced the tokenomics: 23% for Treasury, 17% for the community, 31% for the ecosystem, 12% for contributors, and 17% for Guardian nodes + partnerships. Of which, 1.1 billion tokens are allocated for the upcoming community airdrop, with the rest unlocking after 4 months.
It can be seen that wormhole is what — a powerful tool for interoperability in Web3. The technology behind it has the potential to change how users interact with blockchain, reduce costs, and expand interaction capabilities. If interested, you can check the W token on Gate — currently at $0.01 with a +0.77% increase in 24h.
