After spending some time in the crypto world, I realized that the biggest obstacle isn't understanding the charts, but rather not knowing what the community is talking about. HODL, WAGMI, FUD—if you don't get these terms straight, it's easy to get led astray.

Let's start with the most common ones. HODL actually comes from a typo, but it has evolved into a symbol of faith. Simply put, it means buying and holding tightly, regardless of how the market fluctuates. I've seen too many people panic-sell during a crash, only to regret it a few months later. True HODLers are those who can stay calm even when the market drops 15% or 20%, because they believe in long-term value.

Next is FUD, which I think is especially important because it directly relates to your wallet. FUD stands for Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt, usually appearing in the form of negative news or rumors. Interestingly, FUD doesn't just mean bad news—it's often deliberately amplified or manufactured. For example, when a big influencer posts a tweet, and suddenly people start panic-selling, that's FUD at work. Understanding FUD means learning to distinguish between genuine risk warnings and pure emotional manipulation. Sometimes, those seemingly serious negative messages are actually FUD created to push prices down.

Contrary to FUD is WAGMI—We’re All Gonna Make It. This is a rallying cry during bull markets, especially when new projects launch or a coin surges. The community is full of WAGMI voices. It represents a collective belief that everyone can get through tough times and prosper together.

There are also some smaller terms worth knowing. GM and GN are unique to crypto culture—they’re more than simple greetings; they help build community identity. DYOR (Do Your Own Research) is a defense against getting "rekt"—a term meaning losing big, buying high and selling low, or suffering a big loss.

My advice is, instead of being scared by these terms, treat them as a pass into the crypto community. Next time you see FUD flying everywhere, you’ll be able to calmly analyze whether it’s real risk or emotional manipulation. When you see WAGMI in a Discord group, you’ll understand the spirit of unity behind it. This way, no matter how the market fluctuates, you can stay clear-headed.
