You know, I recently came across an interesting post on X from a rather well-known figure - it turned out to be Kimbal Musk, Elon’s brother. Honestly, not everyone knows about him, although he has a pretty solid reputation in business circles. The guy clearly doesn’t stay in his brother’s shadow but actively shares his views on important issues.
This 52-year-old entrepreneur recently criticized Trump’s policies, particularly his tariff strategy, which, in his opinion, creates a constant tax burden for American consumers. Interestingly, such critical statements come from someone whose wealth is estimated at around 700 million dollars - a substantial amount mainly earned through his Tesla stock holdings.
Kimbal Musk is a somewhat mysterious figure to the general public. He and his brother Elon (who is 53) have a lot in common: both were born in Pretoria, they have similar facial features - a square jaw, straight nose, green eyes. They hold citizenship in three countries: South Africa, Canada, and the USA. But there are differences too - the younger brother is known for his signature cowboy hat, which has become his trademark.
The Musk family went through tough times. Along with his sister Tosca (who is 50), they faced violence in childhood, which led to their mother Maya’s (76) divorce in 1979. After that, the family moved to Canada, then to the US. Despite their critical comments about each other, the brothers remain close - this is evident from their support during difficult moments.
Another important detail from the story: Kimbal and Elon co-founded Zip2 - a startup that provided business software for the internet. They sold it in 1999 for a hefty 307 million dollars to Compaq. That’s the success story of these two brothers from Pretoria.
