Frequently need to register on overseas websites temporarily using phone numbers or test verification code interfaces, buying new cards is too uneconomical. Recently, I delved into paid SMS receiving platforms, avoiding many pitfalls before finding a few stable ones, sharing some experiences.

Actually, SMS receiving platforms just provide virtual numbers to receive messages, charging per use or monthly subscription, offering better privacy than regular phone numbers. I’ve tried many, and found that paid SMS platforms are generally much more reliable than free ones. SMS-Activate is the one I use the most; verification codes usually arrive within 10 seconds, with broad country coverage, especially suitable for cross-border application testing. There’s also 5SIM, with a user-friendly interface and clear API documentation; it can normally receive codes for Google, Twitter, and others, with good stability.

For domestic applications, Super Cloud SMS and Little Bird SMS perform well. Super Cloud SMS’s US number segments take about 10 to 30 seconds, Chinese segments are faster, possibly up to 1 minute during peak times. Little Bird SMS is optimized for domestic use, with codes arriving in about 5 to 15 seconds, and offers convenient API interfaces for batch operations. Getsmscode is inexpensive, suitable for light use, but may have delays on less popular platforms.

My suggestion is, if it’s just for temporary testing, choosing any paid SMS platform is enough. But for long-term stable registration on a specific website, it’s best to load several numbers as backups so you can switch immediately if one becomes invalid. Some platforms support one-click number switching, which is very practical and can prevent waste. Also, be aware that shared number segments are more likely to be flagged or restricted; changing to a different regional segment usually solves this. Overall, choosing a reputable paid SMS platform will greatly improve the experience.
