Been doing some research on low supply cryptocurrency list that actually have real utility, and there's a handful worth paying attention to. The scarcity angle is interesting—when you're dealing with tokens under 20 million total supply, especially those under 10 million, you're looking at a different dynamic compared to the typical mega-cap coins.

Yearn Finance is one that stands out immediately. Only about 36,666 YFI exist, which is genuinely scarce. What caught my attention is the actual use case—it's not just hype. YFI aggregates yield strategies across DeFi protocols, and the governance is genuinely decentralized. The scarcity combined with its positioning in the DeFi ecosystem makes it interesting, though I'll admit the market's already priced in a lot of that premium.

Then there's Quant. Total supply sits around 14.88 million QNT, and here's where enterprise adoption becomes relevant. The whole premise is interoperability—connecting multiple blockchains and enterprise networks like Hyperledger to Ethereum. If enterprises actually start holding QNT to access these services, you could see sustained demand pressure. That's real-world use case stuff, not just speculation.

Compound is another one on the low supply cryptocurrency list worth considering. Max supply of 10 million COMP with about 9.67 million circulating. It pioneered decentralized lending and borrowing with those automated rate markets. The governance token aspect gives it staying power, though I'd say the market cap is already fairly mature at this point.

Gnosis is more niche but interesting. Around 10 million max supply with only 2.64 million circulating. Built on Ethereum for prediction markets and DAO tools, also used in staking. The supply is tight, and if adoption in their specific niche grows, there's room for movement.

Kusama deserves mention too—it's the experimental network for Polkadot, used for parachain auctions and rapid testing. Circulating supply is around 18 million now, higher than I expected, but it's still high-risk/high-reward depending on Polkadot ecosystem activity.

Aave rounds out the discussion. About 15.18 million circulating out of 16 million max supply. Market-leading DeFi lending protocol with strong liquidity and governance. The capped supply plus its position as a top-tier protocol means if DeFi activity picks up again, this could see meaningful upside.

The pattern I'm seeing with this low supply cryptocurrency list is that scarcity alone isn't enough—you need actual utility and adoption potential. These projects have real use cases in DeFi, interoperability, and governance. If you're looking to track these kinds of opportunities, Gate has solid liquidity on most of these pairs if you want to monitor price action or build positions.
