Ondo Finance together with Kinexys from JPMorgan, Mastercard, and Ripple for the first time conducted a cross-border purchase of tokenized U.S. Treasury securities in real-time on the XRP Ledger. The transaction took less than five seconds and occurred outside regular banking hours.
🏦 First, Ondo redeemed the tokenized OUSG fund on the XRP Ledger, then Mastercard sent instructions to Kinexys, and JPMorgan transferred dollars to Ripple's account in Singapore. This was the first example of direct integration of a public blockchain with major banking infrastructure for such settlements.
This could be an important step toward 24/7 global finance: tokenization of assets and integration with banking systems can accelerate international settlements and change liquidity management for large investors.
