TON Completes Transactions 6,000x Faster Than Bitcoin, Pavel Durov Claims
TON Tops Finality Ranking for Layer-1
Durov disseminated a report ranking layer-1 blockchains based on their finality times. The most notable figures actually come from the bottom of the list, not the top.
Bitcoin takes about an hour for transactions to be truly secure from reorganization. This figure comes from the usual six confirmations paired with a 10-minute block interval.
The difference between TON and Bitcoin is approximately 6,000 times. Such a gap essentially makes Bitcoin unsuitable for real-time transaction settlement needs.
Cardano
ADAUSDT
is at the very bottom because it takes a full day for finality. This blockchain has long marketed a proof-of-stake design with peer review, but this data places it behind all competing layer-1s.
The middle section of the list appears more flat by comparison. Avalanche
AVAXUSD
, BNB Smart Chain
BNBUSD
, and Sui (SUI) all confirm transactions in less than two seconds. Hedera (HBAR), XRP Ledger, and Stellar
XLMUSD
manage to complete transactions in under five seconds.
Solana
SOLUSD
records 13 seconds, TRON (TRX) around one minute, and Ethereum
ETHUSD
13 minutes. Litecoin
LTCUSD
takes 15 minutes, while Monero (XMR) requires 20 minutes before Bitcoin and Cardano close the list.
This ranking follows the Catchain 2.0 upgrade in TON. Block times now run around 400 milliseconds, and finality has dropped below one second since April 10.
Telegram Validator Role Reshapes the Network
It positions this move as a counterbalance to other major operators. This setup allows key players to join validator pools without making the network too centralized.
The competition for staking yields around 20% is increasingly pushing the portion of token supply locked in validation. This dynamic reduces circulating tokens and tightens TON trading liquidity.
This comparative data gives Durov new arguments regarding TON’s technical stance. However, ongoing adoption will depend on whether activity in decentralized applications can keep pace with the network speed that is now capturing attention.
