Ten Years of Cryptocurrency Ups and Downs: From a Newbie with $10k to Rebirth

Ten years ago, I just graduated, naive and clueless, holding onto my $10k from an internship — my entire savings and confidence to step into society.
My classmates sought stable jobs and government exams, but I was introduced into the crypto world by a trusted friend. Hearing tales of wealth, I believed $10k could multiply dozens of times and easily achieve financial freedom.
Inexperienced, I didn’t understand candlestick charts or indicators, blindly following others’ encouragement, risking all my capital in one go and blindly copying trends.
Initially catching a small rally, my account saw slight profits, making me feel invincible, thinking making money in crypto was easy. But within a month, the market crashed, and my $10k was wiped out.
Unwilling to accept defeat, I kept trying to recover my losses. I started using credit cards, taking out online loans, even deceiving family for money, pouring everything into the market. The more I lost, the more I invested, falling into a vicious cycle. In just a year, I went from a fresh graduate to owing hundreds of thousands.
Constant debt collectors, disappointed family, distant friends — I hid in a rented apartment, surviving on instant noodles, filled with regret and confusion, feeling hopeless about life.
After hitting rock bottom, I uninstalled trading apps, found a job to pay off debts, and studied crypto knowledge in my spare time, reviewing every loss and remembering all the pitfalls I’d fallen into.
Years of patience and reflection helped me see clearly: there’s no overnight wealth in crypto, only discipline and riding the trend.
Since then, I’ve traded small amounts, strictly controlled positions, set clear stop-loss and take-profit points, avoided chasing highs, resisting impulsive trades and greed. I only enter when signals are clear, take profits on time, and stay on the sidelines when the market is bad.
Ten years of bull and bear markets — some get rich, others lose everything. I rely on discipline and experience, gradually paying off debts, steadily growing my account, buying a house and car back home, and building a stable family.
Ten years in crypto reveal human greed and temper youthful arrogance. Turns out, whether trading or life, there are no shortcuts — only steady effort and staying true to oneself can lead to long-term success.
Ten years of ice-cold perseverance, passion still burning. In the new decade, I’ll continue to trade rationally and move forward steadily.
My advice to fellow crypto traders: abandon fantasies of quick riches, respect the market, control greed, and strictly manage risks — only then can you go far.
