CoinWorld News: after Altman was removed from his CEO position by the OpenAI Board of Directors, leaked text message records revealed that, in communications with the then CTO Murati, he mentioned that he could not return and suggested the idea of having Microsoft acquire OpenAI. The text messages show Murati in the boardroom, while Altman was outside the door, with both sides coordinating how to respond. Murati relayed the Board’s rationale, saying they planned to replace the new CEO that evening. Altman speculated that the Board may want to hand the technology to a competitor, Anthropic. Ultimately, more than 700 OpenAI employees jointly threatened to resign; Altman was reinstated five days later, and the Board also carried out a major reshuffle.
