Recently, I've seen L2s competing over TPS, fees, and subsidies, arguing like delivery platforms fighting over discounts... Honestly, ordinary people don’t need to pick sides; first, clarify your trading habits. For small, high-frequency transactions (claiming airdrops, swapping back and forth), just use L2—don’t ruin your mood over saving a few dozen Gwei; for large amounts, long-term holding, or transactions involving approvals or cross-chain transfers, I still prefer the mainnet, like storing valuable items in a safe—costly but reliable.

A simple compromise is also easy: keep your frequently used funds on a familiar L2 as a wallet for small change; leave a “lifesaver” amount on the mainnet plus necessary operations. Before transferring back and forth, check if you have unlimited approvals—don’t save gas only to give away permissions; if you really want to save that tiny fee, it’s better to be less reckless. Anyway, I now prioritize experience, then cost, with safety coming first.
