Golden Finance reports that on May 7th, artificial intelligence startup Anthropic PBC initially targeted enterprise clients for its Claude chatbot, but now seeks to leverage recent progress in the consumer market to enhance the software’s appeal to everyday users. The company’s laboratory team co-leader Mike Krieger stated that since the end of last year, Anthropic has been asking employees to improve how the chatbot handles personal inquiries, such as questions about health, travel, and recipes.
During a company meeting in San Francisco, Krieger said that Anthropic is focused on improving the “quality, completeness, and performance” of the chatbot. This includes reducing the time it takes for users to open the mobile app and ask Claude a question. “Today, we’ve shortened that time from five or six seconds to about one second,” Krieger said in an interview on Wednesday. To meet the growing demand for its software, Anthropic also announced on Wednesday that it has signed a compute power agreement with Elon Musk’s SpaceX. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
