The United Nations welcomes the extension of the ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel for three weeks and urges all parties to fully comply with the ceasefire arrangements.

On April 24, local time, the United Nations Secretary-General’s spokesperson issued a statement saying that Secretary-General Guterres welcomes the arrangement to extend the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon by three weeks. The statement said that Guterres reiterated that the United Nations supports all efforts to end hostilities and ease the suffering of people on both sides of the “Blue Line.” The statement urged all relevant parties to fully comply with the ceasefire arrangements, stop further attacks, and always fulfill their obligations under international law, in particular international humanitarian law.
