Samsung E&A surged significantly amid expectations that peace negotiations between the U.S. and Iran in the United States could reach an agreement. Analysts believe that if Iran’s post-war reconstruction projects are fully launched, orders for Middle Eastern factories and infrastructure are likely to expand, and this expectation has driven the stock price up.

According to the Korea Exchange, Samsung E&A’s current trading price is 63.3k won, up 10.3k won (19.43%) from the previous trading day. During the session, it briefly rose to 65.9k won, demonstrating strong upward momentum.

Influenced by the same reconstruction expectations, the overall construction stocks also showed strength. Stocks such as TaeYoung Construction preferred shares, GS Construction, Daewoo Construction, and Hyundai Construction also saw buying interest, reflecting market anticipation of expanded Middle Eastern business.

The market is paying attention to foreign media reports about the U.S. and Iran nearing the signing of a ceasefire memorandum of understanding. According to reports, the draft includes Iran suspending uranium enrichment, transporting highly enriched uranium overseas, fully opening the Strait of Hormuz, and lifting freeze funds worth billions of dollars.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry also stated that it is reviewing the U.S. proposal, further boosting expectations for progress in negotiations. Analysts believe that if the stability of the Strait of Hormuz and the thawing of frozen funds become a reality, Iran’s internal demand for energy, factories, and infrastructure recovery will inevitably increase. Therefore, buying interest is concentrated in stocks like Samsung E&A and other related companies with overseas engineering experience.

Previously, construction stocks attracted attention due to expectations of expansion in nuclear power and LNG projects, as well as potential benefits from Middle Eastern reconstruction. However, some market opinions warn against overly spreading reconstruction expectations, noting that some stocks with little connection to overseas factory projects also rose simultaneously.
