I recently spoke with someone who earns $30 an hour with a master's degree.

They bring in about $4,890 a month, and after taxes, insurance, and other deductions, they are left with about $3,667 a month.
Rent costs $1,800, and they have to make the rest of their life fit into $1,867.
$30 an hour is no longer what it used to be.
