Golden Finance reports that on May 7th, Elon Musk’s SpaceX estimates that its planned chip factory, built in conjunction with Tesla, will cost at least $55 billion, and the total investment could exceed the amount the rocket manufacturer aims to raise through a record-breaking initial public offering (IPO). According to a public hearing notice, this “next-generation vertically integrated semiconductor manufacturing and advanced computing manufacturing facility” may be located in Grimes County, Texas, USA. If all subsequent phases of the project are completed, the total capital investment is expected to rise to $119 billion.
