CoinWorld News reports that, according to U.S. media, dozens of Democratic Party federal members of the U.S. House of Representatives recently sent a letter to Secretary of State Rubio, asking the Trump administration to disclose details of Israel’s nuclear weapons program, and stating that the government should not apply double standards on nuclear non-proliferation. The letter dated May 4 noted that the United States is fighting alongside a country that refuses to officially acknowledge having a potential nuclear weapons program, and that the risks of misjudgment, escalation of the situation, and the use of nuclear weapons are not just theoretical. Congress has a constitutional responsibility to fully understand the nuclear balance in the Middle East, the risks that any side in a conflict could escalate the situation, and the plans and contingency measures the government has developed in response to such circumstances.
