SMM issues a proposal regarding anti-involution in the enamel wire industry

Abstract generation in progress

Currently, the domestic enamelled wire industry is facing severe challenges due to multiple overlapping pressures. Affected by sharp fluctuations in upstream raw material prices, the price of electrolytic copper has remained high and volatile for a long time, with the domestic spot price reaching 100k yuan per ton in 2026, significantly increasing cost pressures. Coupled with the simultaneous rise in the prices of chemical auxiliary materials such as insulating varnish, and ongoing increases in comprehensive production costs including environmental compliance, equipment operation and maintenance, energy, and labor, multiple factors are jointly squeezing the profitability of enterprises, and industry operating burdens have significantly increased.

To safeguard the overall interests of the industry and promote the establishment of a fair, orderly, and sustainable market competition environment, we hereby issue the following initiative to all enamelled wire manufacturing enterprises: We propose that each enterprise, based on current raw material market conditions, comprehensive production costs, and their own operational realities, moderately and prudently adjust the processing fee standards for enamelled wire, so that processing fees return to a reasonable range. We call on everyone to avoid vicious competition at the expense of quality and service, and to jointly maintain the basic profitability and sustainable development foundation of the industry. (SMM)
