U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand says the CLARITY Act bill will not pass without a ban on officials' connections to the crypto industry.
"No one will vote for this bill if it doesn't include an ethics provision. We cannot allow members of Congress, senior administration officials, presidents, or vice presidents to profit from such industries due to their insider status."
Next week, the Senate Banking Committee will hold hearings on the CLARITY Act — addressing ethical issues, consumer protection rules, and measures to combat illegal financing.
