Prime Minister Li states he is not seeking normalization of relations with Israel

Golden Finance reports that on May 6, according to the Lebanese National News Agency, Lebanese Prime Minister Saara(m) said that Lebanon is not seeking “to normalize relations with Israel,” but is committed to achieving peace. He noted that it is “too early” to discuss a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at this time, and that any high-level contact with Israel needs to be “fully prepared.” Saara(m) also said that consolidating the ceasefire will serve as the basis for a new round of Lebanon-Israel negotiations that may take place in the United States in the future. He said that Lebanon’s “minimum requirement” is for Israel to set a timetable for withdrawal, and that Lebanon will continue to push forward with a unified weapons control plan. (Xinhua News Agency)
