On April 28th local time in the early morning, a container ship flying the Turkish flag experienced a malfunction and lost control near the Bosporus Strait in Istanbul, Turkey, ultimately running aground just meters from the shore and nearly colliding with coastal buildings. As a result, maritime traffic through the strait has been suspended in both directions, and rescue operations are still ongoing. The vessel involved is approximately 148 meters long and 24 meters wide, carrying containers, and was originally scheduled to head to Kocaeli Province in northwestern Turkey. After the incident, Turkish police and coast guard quickly dispatched rescue teams to the scene for handling. No reports of casualties have been received so far. (CCTV News)
