Recently, I fiddled with a bunch of virtual number verification platforms again.

Before, to register overseas accounts and test interfaces, I really ran into a lot of pitfalls.
Some platforms can't receive texts for half a day, others just have constant delays,
only later did I figure out which Chinese verification platforms and international ones actually work.

Honestly, verification platforms are just services that rent virtual phone numbers to receive verification codes,
covering multiple countries. After registration, just pick a number and bind it to the website you want to verify,
the code will show up directly in the backend.
Much more convenient than buying new SIM cards, and it protects privacy.
When testing, you don't have to worry about being spammed.
They usually charge per use, some platforms also support monthly packages or long-term rentals, depending on your needs.

The ones I find most user-friendly are SMS-Activate and 5SIM.
Both are the most stable overall, with verification codes arriving within about 10 seconds,
and they cover many countries.
For domestic apps, Super Cloud SMS and Little Bird Verification perform well,
they offer both Chinese and US number segments, with speeds around 10-30 seconds,
sometimes a bit slower during peak times.
Getsmscode is also okay for domestic apps, cheap, suitable for light use.

When using these Chinese verification platforms and international ones,
there are a few pitfalls to avoid: shared numbers are often previously registered, sometimes flagged by risk control;
verification codes may be delayed, especially for obscure apps;
never go for cheap small platforms—poor reputation can really lead to order failures.
My experience is, if you're just testing interfaces, just pick any that support API,
but for stable registration on overseas sites, it's better to load a few numbers as backups,
so you can switch quickly if one becomes invalid.
Some platforms even have a one-click number switch feature, which is especially handy.

Also, virtual numbers shouldn't be used as long-term primary numbers,
privacy and security aren't guaranteed.
If the platform doesn't receive texts, try switching to a different country number or refresh,
sometimes the target site blocks certain virtual number segments.
Have you used these platforms before?
Have you run into even more ridiculous pitfalls?
