U.S. President Trump stated in an interview on May 6 local time that although the outside world expects the U.S. and Iran to reach a framework to end the conflict, it is currently "too early" to consider face-to-face peace negotiations between the U.S. and Iran. When asked whether he should go to Pakistan to prepare for a new round of U.S.-Iran negotiations, Trump said, "I don't think so," and added that negotiations still face "distance and uncertainty." On May 6, Trump posted on social media that if Iran agrees to the terms proposed by the U.S., the military operation against Iran, "Epic Fury," will be declared over, and the Strait of Hormuz will be open to all parties, including Iran. If Iran does not accept the U.S. demands, "bombing will begin. The scale and intensity of this bombing will far surpass previous ones." Earlier on the 6th, an authoritative Pakistani source said that negotiations between the U.S. and Iran through Pakistan have shown some hope, "low-key negotiations are expected to translate into tangible results."
