I have seen this Crypto Patel chart about altseason quite frequently, and frankly, it makes sense that everyone is talking about it. The analysis shows a pattern that repeats on the ALTS/BTC chart during each major cycle, and the structure is almost identical to what happened in 2018 and 2021.
What’s interesting is that the altcoin dominance chart has been following an upward channel for years. Every time it hits the bottom, a massive breakout follows. In 2018, we saw how altcoins skyrocketed when Bitcoin lost momentum. Then in 2021, the same thing happened exactly. Now, the price is again at the lower part of the channel, and that’s what has traders on alert.
The dynamic is quite clear when I think about it. Bitcoin moves first because it is the most liquid and reliable asset. That’s where money flows at the start of each cycle. But once Bitcoin slows down or starts moving sideways, traders look for bigger gains elsewhere. Altcoins, being smaller and more volatile, tend to explode when liquidity finally shifts toward them. That’s the cycle Patel is pointing out.
That’s why 2026 is attracting so much attention. The chart suggests we are approaching the same breakout zone that triggered altcoin movements in previous cycles. If the channel holds, the next major growth phase could come when capital rotates back from Bitcoin. It’s not a guarantee of anything, but it explains why so many are positioning early.
What many forget is that altcoin seasons rarely start with hype. They usually begin after months of boredom, significant dips, and general skepticism. That’s why early accumulation feels uncomfortable. By the time retail traders notice what’s happening, most of the movement has already been made.
That’s the key point. The market could still be in the quiet phase of the cycle, but if rotation repeats as in past cycles, the next altseason could arrive faster than most expect once Bitcoin loses momentum. The ALTS/BTC chart is showing exactly the same pattern as before. If that’s confirmed, altcoins could be approaching their significant breakout phase. For now, it’s enough to keep the market talking about this because the structure looks too much like the beginnings of previous altseason cycles.
