Geely has been reported to have acquired the Ford Spain factory workshop.
According to multiple media reports, Geely Auto has reached an agreement with Ford to acquire the “Body 3” body workshop at the latter’s Valencia, Spain factory, utilizing the facility to produce multi-energy vehicles based on the GEA architecture. The report states that this model internally at Geely Auto is code-named 135, widely speculated to be the Geely EX2, corresponding to the Geely Xingyuan in the Chinese market. Meanwhile, Geely Auto will also produce a platform-sharing model for Ford at this factory. Regarding the above news, Ford told the media, “The company has been in discussions with multiple companies on various topics; some will materialize, others will not, and there is no final conclusion yet.” A spokesperson for Geely Europe told the media that they “do not comment on speculative reports.” An insider told reporters that the two sides had indeed been in contact for some time, but whether a final agreement has been reached is still uncertain.
