Just scrolling through and realized something wild - been tracking bitcoin's journey since the early days and the price evolution is absolutely insane. Looking back at where BTC started, we're talking pennies in 2011 hitting around $0.30, then gradually climbing through the years. By 2017 it hit $980, then the real explosion happened.
Fast forward to more recent times and you can see the volatility. January 2024 opened at $43,188, then 2025 kicked off stronger at $93,958. This year started around $87,850 in early January, which shows the current bitcoin price swings we're dealing with. Even now in May 2026, we're seeing some pullback from those January peaks.
What strikes me most is how far we've come from those sub-dollar days. The whole trajectory from 2013 ($13) to where we are now really puts things in perspective. Anyone who's been watching this market for years knows these january 2026 levels are still wild compared to where things started. The volatility is real, but so is the overall growth story.
