US Media: US and Iran are close to reaching a memorandum of understanding to end the war
Deep Tide TechFlow News, May 6th, according to Axios, two U.S. officials and informed sources revealed that the White House believes it is close to reaching a one-page memorandum of understanding with Iran to end the war and establish a framework for subsequent more detailed nuclear negotiations. The United States expects to receive Iran’s response on several key issues within the next 48 hours. The sources said this is the closest the two sides have come to an agreement since the outbreak of the war. According to some provisions of the agreement, Iran will commit to suspending uranium enrichment activities, and the U.S. will agree to lift sanctions on Iran and release billions of dollars of frozen Iranian funds. Both sides will also lift restrictions on passage through the Strait of Hormuz. This one-page memorandum of understanding, consisting of 14 clauses, is being jointly negotiated by Trump envoy Witkov and Kushner through direct contact and intermediary mediation with multiple Iranian officials. According to the current version, the memorandum will declare an end to regional war and initiate a 30-day negotiation period to reach a detailed agreement, including opening the strait, limiting Iran’s nuclear program, and lifting U.S. sanctions. These negotiations may take place in Islamabad or Geneva. An American official stated that during these 30 days, restrictions on Strait shipping and the U.S. naval blockade will be gradually lifted. If negotiations break down, U.S. forces will be able to resume the blockade or reinitiate military action.
