My current basic approach is: daily small transactions, claiming airdrops, trying out new protocols then moving to L2 to save on gas and worry less; if I need to scale up large amounts long-term or involve permissions (like authorization, cross-chain transactions), I still go back to the mainnet. It's more expensive, but the "final settlement" layer feels more secure. To put it simply, for ordinary people, there are two compromises: don't expose your assets on a longer bridge just to save a few tens of dollars, and don't rush to push a small order on the mainnet and end up overpaying. Recently, with chain games that have inflation and studio bots, when the token price softens, it spirals downward, which also shows that no matter how good the experience is, it can't withstand thinning liquidity. Don't chase that needle—first check if the order book is thick enough and whether you can get out easily.
