Seeing someone say "PFP is just avatar tax," I actually think it's more like a store's membership cup: in the short term, it really relies on attention to give a boost, but whether it can retain people depends on what you offer afterward. To put it simply, the avatar is just the cup body, membership benefits are the coffee beans, and the brand is whether you can consistently deliver a stable flavor. Recently, during extreme funding rate times, some in the group are shouting about a reversal while fearing the bubble will keep being squeezed; I more easily think of those "hot" PFPs that come quickly, with rises and falls quite like latte art flipping over... After the excitement passes, who still wants to come back every day? That's what matters in the long run. As for your question, "Should I buy or not"... I can only say I value tangible benefits and continuous updates more—there's no myth involved. I agree partly with "avatars aren't important, the community is,"—but the community also needs people who are genuinely working.
