Is GPT's recent phone number verification becoming more strict?
I tried a few days ago, and whether it's ChatGPT or Codex, new registration/login basically always requires phone verification.
The more troublesome part is: domestic +86 phone numbers often fail the review, showing "invalid number," and repeated retries don't help.
Currently, I've found a few more reliable methods:
1️⃣ Foreign virtual SIM card, like the Giffgaff card from the UK
A Chinese "number preservation" card, no real-name verification needed, the most hassle-free in the long run.
2️⃣ Temporary use of decoding platforms
Suitable for emergency use, like platforms such as 5sim.
But I wouldn't recommend it as a long-term solution, since the number isn't owned by you, and there are risks of recovery issues and fraud detection later on.
