Our neighborhood security guard, Old Li, is in his sixties and is very kind.

Whenever anyone has a problem, he helps out; during rain, he helps collect blankets; during the New Year, he helps put up couplets.
Once, I was chatting with him in the guard room and asked, "Uncle Li, where are your children?"
He paused for a moment and said, "No children."
I didn't ask further.
Later, I heard Aunt Wang from next door say that Old Li used to have a son.
