Chinese Government Middle East Issue Special Envoy Zhai Jun Meets with Indian Foreign Ministry Secretary Marhota
April 23, 2026, China’s Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs Zhai Jun met with Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla in New Delhi, exchanging views on strengthening cooperation under the BRICS mechanism. Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong attended the meeting. Zhai Jun stated that China and India, both developing major countries, have maintained communication on major international and regional issues. China values India’s important role as the rotating chair of BRICS and hopes that this BRICS Middle East consultation will send a strong voice on regional situations and play a constructive role in achieving regional peace and stability. Shringla said that India values China’s important role in the BRICS mechanism, appreciates China’s support for India’s successful hosting of BRICS-related activities, and is willing to work with BRICS countries, including China, to promote early de-escalation of regional tensions. The two sides also exchanged views on the Iran war, the Palestine issue, and other topics. (CCTV News)
