Recently, I’ve been bombarded with various “social mining” and “earning points for badges” (earning points to get badges) schemes, which basically mean trading time for a string of numbers and a sense of identity. When I clicked in, there were a bunch of tasks, a bunch of links, and even wallet connections, signatures, and authorizations… As someone who’s very security-conscious, it really makes my scalp tingle. Even if there’s an airdrop, I wouldn’t want to gamble with my seed phrase.
And now, with all that sorting and MEV on the chain, retail investors’ complaints aren’t without reason: you work hard to interact, and in the end, it might just give more income to miners/validators, while you get a “proof of participation.” Anyway, my current principle is: badges look nice, but they’re not worth sacrificing my life; if I really want to play, I’ll use a secondary account, small amounts, and give as little permission as possible, and I never click on unfamiliar links… Let’s just leave it at that for now; taking it slow isn’t a big deal.
