Over the past two days, I’ve been thinking about that MEV “cutting in line” thing. To put it plainly, someone sees what you’re about to do first, and then squeezes themselves in front of you. The biggest impact isn’t necessarily from whales—it's more from people like me, who just place a normal order, thinking they’ll get filled at the price they see. Then once slippage shows up, it’s like “what is life…” I used to keep chasing after a “reasonable explanation,” but now I’m slowly not chasing it anymore. A lot of things on-chain are basically random plus games; once you accept that, you can stay calmer. And cases like bridges getting stolen are even more like that—everyone in an instant learns the “wait for confirmations” consensus. And sometimes, when oracles randomly (or glitchily) report some wildly off price, on-chain instantly turns into a game of whoever’s quicker gets to live. “Fairness” sounds nice, but in the face of ordering, it’s fragile. What you can do is: don’t chase hot topics too hard, don’t force it when the network is congested, if you end up losing then take a deep breath first and reassess afterward—just like that for now.
