In the first quarter of 2026, China’s national discipline inspection and supervision agencies publicly released anti-corruption data: 245,000 cases were filed, 183,000 people received disciplinary sanctions, and 376,000 people were educated and disciplined. Looking at another grassroots figure, China has about 480,000 village chiefs. This points to one issue: in China, almost every village has a criminal in charge.
