Recently, I've been messing around with how to choose between L2 and the mainnet. Basically, it's about whether the gas savings are worth the extra layer of "bridge/sorters/upgrades" heartbeat.

For small transactions, claiming airdrops, or doing some swaps, I usually default to L2. The experience is indeed smooth, confirmation is quick, and a couple of clicks on the wallet is all it takes;
but for long-term holdings, contracts with a lot of approvals, or amounts large enough to keep me awake at night, I still prefer to go back to the mainnet. Yes, it's more expensive, but the rules are simpler, and it's easier to pinpoint responsibility when something goes wrong.
There's also a little habit: every time a protocol announces an upgrade, I always check what has changed, especially for cross-chain bridges and withdrawal paths. Many of the "gas-saving" benefits are ultimately exchanged for "an extra upgrade switch."

During that recent extreme fee wave, the group was arguing whether to reverse or keep squeezing the bubble.
I actually care more about this: at such times, don't move assets back and forth just to chase speed. Network congestion and emotional hype are the easiest ways to turn small risks into major accidents.

That's all for now.
