CryptoWorld News reports that, according to Forbes, GoMining officially launched its GoBTC payment protocol, which promises instant authorization and on-chain Bitcoin settlement, with merchant fees of only 0.2%.
This protocol positions the payment channels operated by miners as low-cost challengers to Visa and Mastercard.
GoMining states that merchants will receive “instant authorization” at checkout, and settlement will be completed directly on the Bitcoin mainnet within a few hours, utilizing the blockchain confirmation process rather than card network clearing and batch settlement.
The 0.2% processing fee for GoBTC is significantly lower than the 1.5% to 3.5% credit card fees typically paid by merchants.
Industry data shows that standard card processing fees usually range from 1.5% to 3.5%, and recent Visa litigation settlement documents also cite the same average swipe fee range.
GoMining’s goal is to pressure existing crypto payment gateways and traditional card processors with its 0.2% on-chain payment protocol.
