CryptoWorld News reports that, according to NBC News, two American merchant ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz on Monday were equipped with U.S. military security personnel, and Iran launched attacks on them during their passage. The U.S. Pentagon stated that Iran attacked these two ships with missiles, drones, and armed speedboats, but the U.S. military intercepted these attacks in time and destroyed the speedboats. This is the first time U.S. security personnel have been present on ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz, and the move is part of President Trump's latest effort—"Freedom of Navigation" operations—to open this critical waterway. An American official said deploying military security teams is a "prudent security measure."
