Hong Kong's gross domestic product (GDP) in the first quarter of this year is estimated to have increased by 5.9% year-on-year.

On May 5th, the Hong Kong SAR Government Census and Statistics Department released the preliminary estimate of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the first quarter of 2026. According to the preliminary estimate, the GDP for the first quarter of 2026 increased by 5.9% year-on-year in real terms, with the quarterly growth rate reaching the highest in nearly five years.
